The transportation sector in the U.S. accounted for just a little over a quarter of greenhouse gas pollution in 2014, according to the Environmental Protection Agency. So, cutting down on how much fuel you burn to get around is a great way to directly take climate action.

Biking and walking are the best ways to get from place to place without contributing to pollution at all.

If that’s not an option, take public transit. Or consider investing in a hybrid or electric vehicle. Even without a renewable source of power, a plugin vehicle is nearly 50 percent cleaner than a conventionally powered one.
