However, for a long time it felt out of my control, a problem so large and so complex that I couldn’t personally have an impact. This changed my sophomore year in high school when my friend and I started a sustainability club. The club showed me that when you are passionate and vocal about something, other people listen. Passion goes a long way. From that point on I made it my mission to educate myself about climate change and work to enact progressive climate policy. Carbon pricing is the solution that our nation needs to mitigate climate change. It is both a simple and elegant way to help us reduce greenhouse gas emissions. It is also exciting because it is a bipartisan solution-something that people on both ends of the political spectrum should like. Carbon pricing will allow for investments in America’s clean energy industry while decreasing reliance on the fossil fuel energy. It will increase American jobs while not growing the size of the federal government through pricing methods such as the Carbon Fee and Dividend. It is time to put a price on carbon and mobilize the support of young people to make this a reality. The #PutAPriceOnIt campaign is doing just that. Thanks to the work of the campaign my school, Wesleyan University has officially endorsed carbon pricing. Today, we stand at a critical threshold in regards to climate action. We can stand idly by or actively work to address the problems that climate change presents, namely through a price on carbon." - Years Of Living Dangerously
