Why does David @Letterman have a beard? “I just got tired of shaving every day, but then it became something else, and I’m not quite sure what it became,” he told the @nytimes reporter Dave Itzkoff a couple of weeks ago. In his dry Midwestern delivery, he elaborated: “The beard is a good reminder to me that that was a different life. I’m hopeful that I will either find something else, or something else will be presented to me.” But, he added: “My family has given up on the beard. My son thinks it’s creepy.” With years of vitality left, the 69-year-old entertainer has been trying to figure out what his next step should be. He’s returning to TV briefly, for a single episode of @yearsofliving, a nonfiction series about global warming. But #Letterman said there’s one path he will not go back down. “I don’t miss late-night television,” he said. Even as a viewer. These days, the former “Late Show” host is more into absurdist comedies like @veephbo and “Portlandia. @damonwinter photographed #DavidLetterman at the observatory of @oneworldnyc earlier this month.
